‘Falling Angels’: a walking tour of the novel by Tracy Chevalier (author of ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’)

Description: As we read between the lines of the novel “Falling Angels” by Tracy Chevalier, we are led on an intriguing route that takes us past Parliament Fields, through the neighbourhood in-between Hampstead and Highgate, climbing the hill to the West Highgate Cemetery. We are following in the footsteps of Lavinia and Maude, two young girls who meet on the day after Queen Victoria dies; their respective families joining in national mourning for the monarch, stroll to the cemetery where are their respective reserved family plots, that happen to be adjacent to each other. An unlikely but beguiling friendship develops between the two girls as they explore the cemetery together during their holidays. Ticket price includes entry to Highgate West Cemetery [usually £12], a private guided tour of the Cemetery, and a Cemetery booklet signed by Tracy Chevalier.
